WHAT IS A SWITCH?

The Ewa Switch is a product that allows you to control lights and electrical devices using your smartphone, at home or remotely.

Just like with cars, there are large differences in quality, technology and performance between different brands. The Ewa Switch uses Wi-Fi to communicate and has more features than most similar products on the market.

HOW DO I GET STARTED?

When you have purchased your first Ewa Home product you need to download the Ewa Home app from App Store or Google play. Once you have signed up, simply follow the instructions in the app. Here´s how:

IS IT FREE TO USE THE EWA HOME APP?

Yes, it is free to use the Ewa Home App. The only thing you pay for is your Ewa Switch.

HOW MUCH POWER DOES THE EWA SWITCH CONSUME?

The Ewa Switch consume less than 1 watt in standby mode.

DOES MY DATA NEED TO BE STORED IN THE CLOUD?

Yes, because this is by far the best way to make sure that your data is kept safe. Many smart devices on the market today use local storage, which is less safe both when it comes to the risk of data loss and data theft.

We will never use your Ewa Home data for anything else than to enable you to control your own switches.

HOW MUCH POWER DOES THE EWA SWITCH CONSUME?

The Ewa Switch consume less than 1 watt in standby mode.

HOW MUCH BANDWIDTH DO THE EWA SWITCH USE?

The Ewa Switch uses very little bandwidth.

DOES A 3G OR 4G ROUTER WORK WITH MY EWA SWITCH?

Yes it does.

HOW MANY EWA SWITCHES CAN I USE FROM THE SAME ACCOUNT?

It depends entirely on your network setup at home. Most wireless routers have around 250 ip addresses available, which will pose the upper limit. So usually you can have as many Ewa Swithes as you want at home.

WHAT HAPPENS IF MY WIRELESS NETWORK GOES DOWN?

The switch will continue to have the same on/off state as before the shut down. However, you will not be able to control your switch and all timers will automatically be dissabled. If this should happen you will also receive a notification via email saying that your switches are ”offline.

You can always turn on or off the Switch manually by using the button on the side.

WHAT IS THE RANGE FOR THE EWA PRODUCTS?

The Ewa Home Switch approximately has the same range as your other Wi-Fi devices at home. You can place the Ewa Switch where you get Wi-Fi connectivity using your laptop, tablets or phone. Barriers like walls, cabinets, and doors can sometimes reduce the Wi-Fi range.

IS AN INTERNET CONNECTION REQUIRED TO USE THE EWA PRODUCTS?

Basic control (on/off) function does not require internet connection. However, everything else requires internet connections.

MAKE SURE IT WILL WORK IN YOUR HOME

You will need an iPhone with IOS 7.0 or later, or a Smartphone with Android 4.0 or later.

You also need a working internet and Wi-Fi connection. The internet connection needs to be 2.4 Ghz 802.11 b/g/n.

You need to know the password for your Wi-Fi.

HOW TO ACCEPT AN EMAIL INVITATON TO A EWA HOME

If you’ve been invited to Ewa Home, you’ll need an Ewa Account to sign in to. If you don’t have an Ewa Home Account already, you’ll be asked to create one when you accept the invitation.

  1. Open your email invitation and tap on ”Accept”.

If you have trouble getting the link to open, try using a different device to accept the invitation.

  1. Create an Ewa Home Account or sign in.

 

If you already have a Ewa Home Account

Sign in. You’ll see the home you’ve been invited to and can start accessing it right away. You’ve accepted the invite.

 

If you don’t already have a Ewa Home Account

Create a password and tap ”Sign Up”. After you finish creating an Ewa Home Account, sign into the Ewa Home app.

HOW TO INVITE OTHERS TO YOUR EWA HOME

To give someone access to your Ewa Home and switches, send them an invitation with the Ewa Home app. Here’s how:

FAMILY ACCOUNT

With a ”Familiy Account” one person is always the ”Owner” of the account and everyone else are ”Invited” users. When you have created an accont and added your first switch you are the ”Owner”.

IN WHICH COUNTRIES CAN I USE MY EWA SWITCH?

You can use the Ewa Switch EU (Model:A1 Schuko) almost everywhere in Europe (except UK and Ireland).

The Ewa Switch US (Model:A2 US) can be used in US and Canada and the Ewa Switch French (Model: A3 France) can be used in France and Monaco.

IN WHICH COUNTRIES CAN I USE MY EWA HOME APP?

You can control your Ewa Switch from anywhere as long as your phone has a connection – wifi or 3/4G. However, please note that the Ewa Switch only comes in certain types. Please make sure that the outlet in your home fit’s the Ewa Switch.

CAN I USE THE SWITCH OUTSIDE?

No, the Ewa Home Switch is only intended for indoor use.

CAN I USE ALL KIND OF LIGHT BULBS AND LED LAMPS?

Yes you can. However, not all lights and lamps are dimmable.

WHICH LAMPS CAN I DIM?

All dimmable light sources. Check the specifications from the manufacturer!

CAN I USE THE EWA HOME APP EVEN IF I AM NOT ON WIFI OR CELLULAR NETWORK?

No.The Ewa Home App will show you it is ”Offline” and then you can’t control your switches.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I DELETE A SWITCH IN MY APP?

The switch and all the data is deleted. After you have deleted a switch, you can always set it up again.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I PULL OUT THE SWITCH FROM THE WALL?

The same thing as with all other electronic devices. When you plug it back in again it goes back to its original on/off state. The only way to permanently delete the data on a switch is by deleting it in the app or by contacting us at email: customer@ewahome.com

WHAT HAPPENS IF THE POWER GOES OUT?

The switch will re-start once the power is back on again and will continue to work as before.

HELP! MY SWITCH DOESN’T WORK!

First, check that the appliance is working by plugging it directly into the wall.

Then test the switch with another appliance.

If you’re using the dim function, make sure that the lightbulb and lamp you are using is dimmable.

Make sure that you have set up the switch with your Ewa Home App account.

When you plug a switch in, it should blink green up to ten times, then go to solid green and then turn off.

HOW MANY TIMERS AND ALERTS CAN I HAVE?

You can have up to 10 timers and 10 notification per switch.

WHY CAN I NOT SEE TEMPERATURE AND HAVE DIM FUNCTION AT THE SAME TIME?

The dimmer generates heat in the switch that may throw off the temperature sensor, so your temperature reading would likely be inaccurate. To avoid confusion, temperature reading is disabled when the dimmer is active.

WHEN I DIM MY LAMP THE SWITCH LED TURNS RED AND A MELODY IS PLAYED. WHY?

If you try to dim an appliance using more them 100W the overcurrent protections is activated. This is a safety feature to protect non dimmable devices. Simply unplug the switch and plug it in again to reset.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I TRY TO DIM NON-DIMMABLE LAMPS?

Do not try to dim anything that is not explicitly marked as dimmable. Doing so may cause harm to your appliances.

HOW CAN I IDENTIFY A SWITCH?

Open the app. Plug the switch into the outlet.

Switch -> App: Press the button on the side of the plug and see what plug icon in the app that reacts.

App -> Switch: Press the on/off button of a switch in the app and see which Switch reacts.

This only works if you are at home, where you installed your Ewa Switches.

HOW DO I MOVE MY SWITCH TO ANOTHER WI-FI?

To move it to another Wi-Fi simply hold the button in for three-four seconds until is changes color to a solid purply. Now, follow setup again and use your new wifi credentials. NB: This only works if this is your Switch to start of with. If this is someone else’s Switch you will be denied to complete the setup process.
