HOW DO I GET STARTED?
When you have purchased your first Ewa Home product you need to download the Ewa Home App from App Store or Google Play. Once you have signed up simply follow the instructions in the app.
WHAT IS A SMARTPLUG?
A smartplug is a device that allows you to remotely control lights or electrical devices using your smartphone.
Just like cars, there are huge differences in quality, technology and performance between different smartplug brands. Your Ewa Home smartplug uses wireless technology to communicate and has more features than most smartplugs on the market. This places it in the top when it comes to safety and performance.
WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED IN ORDER TO USE THE EWA PRODUCTS?
You will need an iPhone or iPad with IOS 7.0 or later, or a smartphone/tablet with Android 4.0 or later. This entails most phones and tablets today
You also need a 2.4 GHz 802.11 b/g wi-fi router with internet access. This entails most routers. You need to know the password for your home router.
WHERE CAN I FIND MORE INFORMATION ABOUT EWA
IS AN INTERNET CONNECTION REQUIRED TO USE THE EWA PRODUCTS
Only for remote access and the initial setup. You can access devices on your local WiFi network even if it is not connected to the Internet. As long as your phone has an internet connection, you can control them from anywhere in the world. It does not matter how the Internet connection is established – cellular or wifi.
WHAT IS THE RANGE FOR THE EWA PRODUCTS?
The Ewa Home smartplugs have the same range as your other wifi devices at home. You can place Ewa products wherever you get wifi connectivity using your laptop, tablets or phones. Barriers like walls, cabinets, and doors can sometimes reduce the Wi-Fi range.
WHAT HAPPENS IF MY WIRELESS NETWORK GOES DOWN?
You will not be able to control the plug, but all preset timers and programs will keep running even if the network is down, and you can of course turn the device on or off using the button on the side.
HOW MANY EWA PRODUCTS CAN I USE FROM THE SAME ACCOUNT?
We do not place an upper limit. It depends entirely on your network setup at home. Most wireless routers have around 254 IP addresses available, which will then pose the upper limit of that network. But you can have more smartplugs on other networks, and there 254 is also the limit.
CAN I USE MY EWA PRODUCTS AT DIFFERENT LOCATIONS?
Yes, you can easily move your products from one place to another. If you use the same wireless network name and password, no changes are needed. If you use the same account but a different WiFi network you will need to re-sync the devices. If you wish to move the devices to another account entirely, you will need to delete it from the current account before you sync it with the wireless network at the new location.
DOES A 3G/4G-ROUTER WORK WITH MY EWA PRODUCTS?
Yes it does.
HOW MUCH BANDWIDTH DOES EWA HOME USE?
The Ewa products use very little bandwidth.
DOES MY DATA NEED TO BE STORED IN THE CLOUD?
Yes, because this is by far the best way to make sure that your data is kept safe. Our Ewa database uses a medical standard used in hospitals to manage delicate patient data in the most secure and confidential way. Many smart devices on the market today use local storage, which is less safe both when it comes to the risk of data loss and data theft.
We will never use your Ewa Home data for anything else than to enable you to control your own smartplugs.
HOW MUCH POWER DOES THE EWA SMARTPLUG CONSUME?
The Ewa Smartplug consume less than 1 Watt in standby mode.
CAN I USE THE SMARTPLUG OUTSIDE?
No, the Ewa Home Smartplug is only intended for indoor use.
CAN I USE ALL KIND OF LIGHT BULBS AND LED LAMPS?
Yes you can. However, not all lights are dimmable. Dimming non dimmable lights can cause harm to the light source and the Ewa Home Smartplug!
WHICH LAMPS CAN I DIM?
All dimmable lightbulbs and LED lamps. Check the specifications on you light sources.
CAN I USE MY EWA APP EVEN IF I AM NOT ON WIFI OR HAVE ACCESS TO 3G/4G?
No, then you have no connection.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I DELETE A DEVICE IN MY APP?
All data will disappear and you need to set-up the smartplug again.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I PULL OUT THE SMARTPLUG FROM THE WALL?
Nothing, it will restart when you plug into the outlet again.
WHAT HAPPENS IF THE POWER DISAPPEARS?
The smartplug will re-start once the power is on again and will continue to work as before.
THE SMARTPLUG DOES NOT TURN THE LAMP ON OR OFF?
Make sure the electrical device that you have plugged into the Ewa Home Smartplug is turned on and is working (plug it directly into the socket to verify). Make sure you are not trying to dim an appliance that is not dimmable. Test the Smartplug with another appliance. Finally, make sure you have no timers or alerts set to turn the device on or off automatically. If this is still not working contact Ewa Home support.
HOW MANY TIMERS AND ALERTS CAN I HAVE?
You can have up to 10 timers and 10 alerts per smartplug.
WHEN I DIM 160W THE PLUG LED TURNS RED AND A MELODY IS PLAYED, WHY?
An overload protection in the smartplug prevents dimming more than 100W. This is a safety feature to protect non dimmable devices. Simply unplug the smartplug and plug it in again to reset.
WHY CAN I NOT SEE TEMPERATURE AND HAVE DIM FUNCTION AT THE SAME TIME?
The dimmer generates heat in the smartplug that may throw off the temperature sensor, so your temperature reading would likely be inaccurate. To avoid confusion, temperature reading is disabled when the dimmer is active.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I TRY TO DIM NON-DIMMABLE LAMPS?
Do not try to dim anything that is not explicitly marked as dimmable as it may cause harm to your appliances.
